Very exciting news! Ice Cream University is proud to announce that we have become an Official USA Representative for the S.I.G.E.P. Fiera Gelato Convention that will take place in Rimini, Italy in January 2008. Our group will be treated as guests of S.I.G.E.P. as well as guests of our sponsors, Carpigiani Group and the Fabbri Company of Bologna, Italy, represented in the USA by Fabbri North America and Carpigiani USA. These are two of the most prominent companies in the worldwide gelato industry. We will offer two workshops hosted by Carpigiani and Fabbri at the fair.


With the support and involvement of our sponsors, the tour promises to be our finest ever!  As usual, the tour is for gelato and ice cream lovers! So this is your chance to experience the joy of smelling, seeing and tasting Italian gelato— the best in the world—with the experts. This is the best Italy has to offer. When? From our most recent 2007 Gelato Tour of Italy, Heather Pettigrew of Kotopelli’s Gelato Factory, Green Valley, Arizona said it best. “Thank you, thank you, thank you for making my first time to S.I.G.E.P. so spectacular.” And yes, it was spectacular. If you know Malcolm Stogo at all, when I say something is fantastic, I really mean it. And that is how I feel about gelato. (And that’s all I hear when I speak with people who have just come back from Italy.) Having been there every year for the last seven, I can truly attest to the fantastic gelato all over the country, from Rome to Florence, to Venice, Rimini, Bologna, Naples and Sicily.


Come join the tour and visit the best gelaterias in Bologna, Naples and Rome. The highlight of the trip is experiencing the 29th annual S.I.G.E.P. convention in Rimini, a merchandising haven you won't want to miss, especially for anyone who is already in the gelato business. It’s the perfect opportunity to buy packaging and ingredients direct from Italy. The convention is a gathering place to learn about new ideas and taste new flavors from a variety of manufacturers. After Rimini we will travel South stopping in Orvieto, Pompeii, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, Naples and Rome to sightsee and taste and compare gelato from these different areas. We have added some exciting features such as half-day, English- speaking guided tours of historic sights in Naples and Pompeii, and a workshop at the best gelateria in Italy— La Sorbetteria of Bologna. We will offer gelato workshops in many of the cities we visit. So, have we sparked your interest?
